Winter Wonderland

If you're wondering it's freezing here and we have a foot of snow. We shoveled the driveway 7 times today and have to do it a few more. The snow just will NOT let up. I pretty much did everything that you would expect from the cold, sledding, hot chocolate, snowman making, and you know just taking your dog for a walk in 12 inches of snow. The snow isn't just normal snow it's super wet and heavy. You could say that I had a few outfit changes throughout the day, but there are a few essentials that I have kept on all throughout the day:
Under Armor Storm Sweatpants: Usually I wear snow pants, but I was curious if these would keep me warm. My legs haven’t been cold all day. I’ve sat in the snow, been snowed on, had snowballs chucked at me and these pants have kept me warm through all of it.

Fleece Lined Long Spandex: These things are a life saver! I wore them under my sweatpants and they just added to the warmth. They are just a must for winter because you can go running in them or wear them under anything to keep you extra warm.
Fuzzy Socks: Fuzzy socks may just be an obsession of mine. I wear these all the time. I don’t know what I would do without them. I’m not even kidding. I  l o v e  t h e m .

Winter Jacket: I would recommend one that is water proof or snow-proof, especially if you’re going to be in the snow a lot. I wear this on a daily basis.

Gloves: I’m not one to like the cold a lot, but these are the best invention ever. They are like socks, but for your hands. You could be doing anything outside and these would not fail you.

Things I have changed throughout the day: Sweatshirt and T-shirt: These few things get wet fairly quickly in my case. If I don’t have my hood up then snow just goes down my back and into my sweatshirt. If you’re going to be outside for awhile I would recommend having an extra pair of these with you.

Hopefully you’re reading this while all warm and curled up in bed with some hot chocolate.

Because Finals

I'm writing this out of procrastination because I absolutely hate studying finals. Most of you probably have the same problem. I always get distracted and bored. I have found a few techniques that get me through studying and hopefully they do the same for you!

Usually I will gather my supplies first, like, study guides, pens, pencils, highlighters. The next thing to do is to find a comfy place to study. I don't particularly like to study at my desk because it's not that comfortable for long periods of time. So, I usually just gather my stuff and lay down on my bed. Once I have settled in I pull out my phone and turn up some music. I like to listen to 8tracks because I can find new music that fit my mood. I like to listen to tracks under study and motivation. Once I have my jams playing and everything I need to study I get to the actual studying. Flashcards are about the best way to go when you have to memorize stuff. I get so distracted and bored that I have to take frequent breaks. I like to take them about every 30 minutes. You may feel the urge to grab those cookies or chips when studying, but if you get something healthier like berries and yogurt it will keep you going longer. When you wake up in the morning from studying all night make sure you eat breakfast. You will feel energized and be ready to take the finals!

Stop procrastinating and get to it!

That No Good Acne

Today I woke up and a huge break out and I was like EEEP! My skin type is combination and I don't get acne much in the winter, so you could say it was unexpected. My first line of attack was to put some acne medicine on it. I use the Neutrogena Naturals Acne Spot Treatment. So far I love it because it usually gets rid of my breakouts within 3 days. The reason is because it's clear and can be applied anytime. When I breakout in the morning I can put it in and no one will notice it. The 2nd thing I do is usually wait it out. If it's not gone within 3 days then I try to figure out why it happened. Certain spots on your face break out for different reasons. Read below for your acne analysis:

1. Forehead: Triggered by stress or not enough sleep.
2. Above Brows: Usually appear before, after, or during a cold or flu.
3. Between Brows: Caused by over indulgence.
4. Cheeks: Caused by smoking or  breathing polluted air.
5. Side of Chin: Usually by hormones. (In other words when your Aunt Flo is visiting)

These may not be the cases in all acne, but this is what I have found from reading articles online and in books. Most of these apply to me, but I don't acne in all these places mostly on my forehead and between my brows. Hope you find this useful to your unexpected breakouts. Until next time!

My Favorite Drugstore Products

Sorry I haven't been on for awhile, but school has been a little bit crazy. In this post I want to share my favorite drugstore beauty products. I think I have a few of the top brand products from Sephora, but most of them are from your drugstore. When I'm experimenting with makeup I go to the drugstore and get some inexpensive stuff that if I don't like it then I don't really care how much I spent. So, for that kind of purpose I usually go to Target and get e.l.f. products or Wet'n Wild at Walgreens. If you're a first time makeup user, instead of starting with the big stuff then start off drugstore. I've been searching for the perfect products for a long time and I found some that I absolutely love, and that's why I want to share them with you!
Foundation (Sorta):
I don't really use foundation I like to go light with BB Cream. The one on the left is from Neutrogena and gives a nice shimmer when applied. The one on the right is Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB it's really easy to blend and is like liquid foundation. I like both of these because I can't find the perfect color for me and I am tanner in the summer and lighter in the winter. In the summer I have a darker shade of the Neutrogena one and for the winter I have a lighter shade of the Maybelline BB. Right now though I put half and half on my hand then mix it together and I get the perfect color. The Maybelline BB is about $7 and the Neutrogena is around $10. (btw these are not the colors I use)

Powder:
I love the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder! I use it all the time to set my makeup or if I don't put on any "foundation" then I will just dust a bit of this on. This is one of my must have's and goes everywhere with me! Everywhere. I believe it was about $7.

Lips:
I have about a million lip stuff, but the one that I come back to again and again is Maybelline's Baby Lips. I have one on me all the time so when my lips get chapped or I need some color I can swipe it on. These come in many colors and come in clear too because they aren't just lip color they also moisturize. In the winter I just stock up on these! There's a new kind out that I would love to try and it's Dr. Rescue, which is meant especially for chapped or damaged lips, the name Dr. Rescue.
 Mascara:
I recently started using this mascara and I can not get over it. I love it sooooo soooo much! It's Covergirl's Clump Crusher and is absolutely amazing. Like it says it leaves zero clumps. I had to get used to putting it on because the brush is slanted so you want to keep the brush horizontal when putting it on so the brush looks like an arc. I use this every single day of my life! I can't exactly remember how much it was because I got it on sale, but I love this!
Makeup Remover:
Before I cleanse my face I use this to take off my eye makeup because I don't like to cleanse my eyes. It's Neutrogena's oil-free eye makeup remover. It doesn't leave any kind of residue behind. My tip for it is to shake it very well before using because you see the difference in the bottle of where the solution splits. Also, wipe your eye with a wet towel or washcloth after removing the makeup. I love it because it even gets waterproof mascara off! I'm not sure how mush it was though.

That's basically it, but if you want to try this I totally recommend them! I haven't tried every single makeup brand or product at the drugstore, but this is what I love out of what I have tried!

BatBook: DIY Minnie Mouse Ears

So for the 2nd part of the Minnie Mouse Costume is a DIY for Minnie's Ears! These are super easy and can also work for cat ears, rabbit ears, or any other costumes that you need ears for!

1. You will need a hot glue gun, some black craft foam and a headband.
2. Start with measuring the width of your headband on a piece of foam. Then draw another width of your headband above it. My pieces of foam were not long enough for the whole headband so I had to cut 2 strips.
3. Cut out the strips of foam.
4. Now start gluing your foam to your headband. I would recommend that you glue a little bit at a time and not draw a long line of glue around your headband because the glue dries quick and then you would have a bunch of dry glue.
5. Since I used 2 strips of foam I have some that was longer than my headband. If you have this problem then just cut the extra off.
6. Set your headband aside. Take a piece of foam and cut a circle out of it. To get the right size you can cut a large circle then measure how big it would be on your head, then just keep sizing it down until you get the right size.
7. Trace your circle 3 more times, so you end up with 4 circles.
8. Now glue the top section together. You want to make sure that half of it's not glued.
9. Position the circle on your headband.
10. Glue the bottom together.
11. If you have openings on the sides (like shown) just put your glue gun in there and glue them together.
12. You now have your own pair of Minnie/ Mickey Mouse ears!

BatBook: Minnie Mouse Costume; Makeup and Hair

Now it's time for Minnie's Hair and Makeup! Minnie's makeup and hair super easy to do since she's a mouse and it's all natural on her!

Hair
Since Minnie doesn't have any hair you can style your hair however you want. I think that since the Minnie costume is super cute that wanded hair would go perfectly! (In the picture don't mind the blue at the ends) You could also leave your hair straight, in a braid, or any other style that you would like!

Makeup
For Minnie's makeup I would recommend a very natural looking pink eyeshadow. Use that on your lid and make it fade out. Take your favorite mascara and brush it onto your eyelashes! You can do whatever else you want with your makeup, but don't go overboard. If you really want to get in to character you can draw a black nose on your nose.

That's all for Minnie's hair and Makeup! Just remember natural and cute like Minnie!
